Dorothy Height- a woman with a busy life

Hello!
I have noticed that there is a problem with the invisible comment section! I will try to fix it tomorrow evening.
The woman that I will be writing about today is, somebody who stood next to Martin Luther King jr. whilst he made his awesome "I have a dream" speech at the March on Washington. She was called the godmother of the civil rights movements by Barack Obama. She fought for both civil rights and women's rights. She ran and participated in many  association against racism and women's rights, such as the YWCA (Young Women Christian Association) and NCNW. She is the best woman I have met (not physically unfortunately). She is Dorothy Height. Yes, the woman who's photo was stamped on post-stamps in February 2017 to remember the civil rights legacy in the month of black history.

“I have been in the proximity of, and threatened by, the Klan; I have been called everything people of color are called; I have been denied admission because of a quota. I've had all of that, but I've also learned that getting bitter is not the way.”
Sooooo... what do you think about her?
Do you have a post- stamp from February?
Do you think she is the godmother of civil rights movements?

BYEEEEE

Simone de Beauvoir- the french feminist

Bonjour 😉,
First of all I want to apologize for not having published more posts the past week! I just didn't have the right inspiration and I was sick. To make it up to you guys I have decided to publish another post tomorrow and Monday too! (Then it will go back to the normal routine) Anyhow you might be wondering why I wrote hello in French. This is because today I am going to write my post about a French woman!

She was an author, journalist and philosopher. But what interest us the most is her work  as a women's rights activist. She is the one and only Simone de Beauvoir. She wrote amazing books, such as "The second sex" where I found this incredible quote

“One is not born, but rather becomes, a woman.”

I think by this she means, that when you are born you are a human being and when you grow up you become a woman and everything changes. I really love this quote, and I think it is pretty famous... I think! Another quote that I like because it makes me think of love (❤♡💗💛💚💜💖)

“Two separate beings, in different circumstances, face to face in freedom and seeking justification of their existence through one another, will always live an adventure full of risk and promise."

What do you think about these two quotes?
Do you know a woman that you would like me to talk about on the next post? If yes then e-mail me some facts and what you think is so great about her!
Have you done something to raise awareness in the past months, weeks?

I am very sorry but that is it for today! (I am lazy today... SORRY) I'll "see" you tomorrow then. Spread the news about this blog and stay tuned! ✊♀🚺 BYEEEEEE

Another question... What would you do if you lived in a country in war and many of women and girls have been killed and you can't do anything, at all? (Maybe will mention something similar tomorrow)
P.S.: Has ANYONE done the challenge? Spread the news about that too if you want to RAISE AWARNESS!

Malala Yousafzai- the Pakistani activist

Helloooo! 😀

Before I start I wanted to tell you all that there is a new "raise-awareness-challenge"!! (Sooo excited) You just have to do a video with you in public (e.g. a restaurant, parks, streets, etc.) and you have to write "WOMENS RIGHTS" or "WE ARE EQUAL" or "MEN=WOMEN" on you upper arm and then you only have to show your upper arm muscle and then hashtag it #equalmusclechallenge and then publish it on you Social Media account! If you want then send me your video and I will put it onto my social media too! Let us fight for women's rights people! Let us raise awareness for this problem! Anyways back to the usual routine!

She is my favourite hero that is still alive today. Her pen-name (the name that she used to stay anonymous on the BBC show) was Gul Makai. And she was shot and survived!😮 Isn't that amazing? Well.. not that she was shot, but that she survived. So unbelievable! Wait a second, do you know who I am talking about? Probably, anyway... let me back up and tell you the story... So, today I am writing abo ut Malala! You should all know her, but if not, it doesn't really matter because I'll tell you now! She is a women rights activist and was fighting for women's education in Pakistan because when the Taliban started attacking Pakistan they forbid women and girls to go to school and get an education. She finally achieved her goal, which was not very appreciated by the president in Pakistan, were Malala lived. So on the 9th of October 2012 Malala was driving home from school with two of her classmates on the bus. Suddenly a gunman stopped the bus and demanded to know who Malala was. Nobody answered.  She wrote in her autobiography "I am Malala",

"My friends say he fired three shots, the first went through my left eye socket and out under my left shoulder. I slumped forward onto Moniba, blood coming from my left ear, so the other two bullets hit the girls next to me ... My friends later told me the gunman's hand was shaking as he fired."
She was brought to Birmingham, United Kingdom to do various surgeries, six days after the attack.

That was it for today people! (I actually wanted to put a donut emoji here, but then I thought it would look "unprofessional"[I loooove donuts!])

Tell me what you think about her in the comments section. (I absolutely adore her!)
Do you think the Taliban did the right thing? (I definitely do not!)
Did you read "I am Malala"?

Gloria Steinem- A woman that never gives up

Hello Folks! 😉
Today I want to celebrate this great woman and write about her. I actually found out about her by coincidence... Funny story, that I will tell you another time. Now let me tell you what I think about her. She is one of my favourite feminist heroes that are still alive today (hurray!).... She writes books, magazines and she fights for women's rights. She is the one and only Gloria Steinem! What I like about her is that she has never given up to fight for women's rights. At a very young age she started writing for magazines. For these magazines she wrote various articles about women's issues. From there she started writing short stories and books. Today she is over 80 years old and still women's rights activist.
Bye Bye... You'll hear from me at the start of next week! Stay tuned to hear more about various women. By the way have you done something against the equality between male and female? Tell me all about your actions in the comments!
Oh, oh I almost forgot... how do you think you can make a difference and do something against women's rights?
Feel free to comment on what you think about Gloria Steinem! What do you think of her?

Annie Kenney- The Suffragette

Hello again!😃
[Annie Kenney on the left
and Christabel Pankhurst
on the right. Holding a banner
on which is written
"Votes for women"]
Today is the Annie Kenney Day! (At least for me...) She is one of my favourite Suffragettes. From my point of view she is a hero. Previously the suffragettes were a peaceful group. Then Kenney arrived and let me tell you what happened on the 13th of October 1905. On that day Churchill and Edward Grey had an independent labour party meeting. Kenney and her close friend and suffragette, Christabel Pankhurst, interrupted this meeting and shouted at the two men demanding that women should have the right to vote. Neither of them replied So Kenney and Pankhurst took out a banner on which was written "Votes for women" and continued shouting at the two politicians. At one point Churchill and Grey decided to call the police. When a policeman arrived and tried to arrest the two women, they kicked and spat at him. At the end they were charged with assault and fined with five shilling. Kenney and Pankhurst refused to pay so they were sent to prison. In her autobiography "Memories of a Militant" she describes how it was in prison

"Being my first visit to jail, the newness of the life numbed me. I do remember the plank bed, the skilly, the prison clothes. I also remember going to church and sitting next to Christabel, who looked very coy and pretty in her prison cap ... I scarcely ate anything all the time I was in prison, and Christabel told me later that she was glad when she saw the back of me, it worried her to see me looking pale and vacant."

Oh... I almost forgot... For those who live or are south African, HAPPY HUMAN'S RIGHTS DAY!
Byeeeeee People out there reading my blog... "See you" in two days! Until then be brave like Annie Kenney and fight for something you think is unequal between women and men. ☮♀

By the way, feel free to comment on what you think about Annie Kenney! Do you think she is a hero?

Hello!!

First of all, Hello!😀
Welcome to my blog... Right now you might be wondering why I started a blog. Well, since the women's march on Washington earlier this year I have been thinking... a lot! I think that still today there are many inequalities between men and women. Think about it... in some countries women are still paid less than men for the same job. Anyhow... I hope you enjoy all the future posts about various important women that fought for women's rights. Please feel free to participate in the blog and write about what you think about women's rights?

Bye Bye... Stay tuned and fight on for women's equality (If you haven't started, then start fighting today)! ♀
